Check out this inspiring story from our Frisco team!

Our Withdrawal Management staff teams work hard every day because our clients are worth it, and sometimes, all people need to get empowered is compassion and connection. We put our hearts into what we do, so when we get to hear how someone has succeeded after working with us, it’s such an amazing gift!

We recently received a heartwarming testimonial story from the thankful parent of a client who came to get help at our Withdrawal Management center in Frisco. We loved the story so much, we asked to share it with you! They agreed.

We hope you get inspired by this awesome story of connection!

“I wanted to reach out and thank you. My son has had a substance abuse problem since early HS. Had been in rehab twice by the time he was 18. For the last 5 or 6 years he was managing it fairly well.  However, in late summer he began using alcohol again. This quickly turned to excess. For the last four months he’s been at times drinking a half gallon a day. Had been to the ER in his home state several times with related health issues and eventually even went into detox there.

Unfortunately, he was sent to a facility that was the polar opposite of Recovery Resources and left after a couple of hours.

When he visited us over Christmas he was needing to drink to keep from shaking. Eventually, he agreed to go to your facility. This started with a phone call (answered by Glenda). She was welcoming, engaging and obviously very knowledgeable and informed. Prior phone calls to similar facilities always seemed to give him an excuse to not go. “They don’t know anything” or “It sounded like I was annoying them” were common comments when he had tried to connect (with other programs) in the past.

Glenda’s warm and welcoming demeanor had the effect of putting him at ease immediately.

He began packing and we drove him to the Emergency Department as she suggested. He spent a couple of days with your staff. His in person contact with Glenda was incredibly positive as well. He also spoke very highly of Morgan. She was able to help him formulate a plan – no small task.

She engaged with him in a manner that was free of shame.

He reported that she truly listened to him and understood him in a way that he had not experienced prior. I picked him up when he discharged and met Glenda and Morgan, finding them to be the perfect balance of professional and engaging. He spent a week here with us completely sober. He looked so much healthier physically when I dropped him off at DIA yesterday. I have no idea if his sobriety will continue now that he’s back home.

But for the first time in some time, he has some hope that it may.

Thank you for your program and please express my thanks to Morgan and Glenda as well.”
